How Combat Works in Raging Mortals
When you lock horns with another survivor in Raging Mortals, every piece of kit, every stat point and even your choice of battleground can tip the scales. Each player-versus-player (PvP) clash costs 5 energy, so you’ll want to pick your fights wisely. The system checks:
- Equipment: Are you wielding a levelled-up melee weapon, shotgun or a rare sci-fi artefact? Is your opponent wearing heavy-duty armour or a lightweight stealth suit?
- Stats: Your Strength, Agility and Endurance (and any other special bonuses) come into play. You’ve buffed these by hitting the gym in the main city, smashing personal bests at the advanced gym on the outskirts—and sometimes by equipping rare event-only gear.
- Relative Level: Taking down someone your own level nets a standard EXP reward; best a higher-level target and you’ll score bonus experience; pick on a newbie, and you’ll earn less—but it’s still good practice!
Weapons, Armour and Strategic Advantage
Gear is more than just cosmetic. Heavy armour soaks up damage but slows you down; light armour lets you dodge but offers minimal protection. Weapons each have unique stats:
- Melee (e.g. pipes, crowbars): fast swings, low stamina drain, perfect for close-quarters.
- Ranged (e.g. pistols, rifles): deal higher damage from afar but consume ammo and carry a reload penalty.
- Rare items (found only in special events or high-level quests): may grant elemental damage, healing on hit, or stat multipliers.
Plan your load-out before heading into combat: if you suspect your foe uses range, equip better armour and close the gap. If you’re lighter and faster, kite them around until they tire.
Earning Dog Tags and Looting Wallets
Victory isn’t just bragging rights. A successful attack automatically loots any cash your opponent had on them, straight into your wallet. You also claim their dog tag—a symbol of conquest that updates your personal battle stats. Dog tags are versatile:
- Sell at the Pawn Shop for credits to fund new gear.
- Use as quest items in gang-sponsored missions.
- Display as trophies in your hideout; nobody can doubt your prowess!
Experience (EXP) gains vary by opponent level, but every fight bolsters your battle statistics and edges you closer to the next attribute point.
Building a Battle-Ready Character
Your core stats rise through disciplined training:
- City Gym: Cheapest and always open; perfect for beginners.
- Advanced Gym: On the wasteland’s edge; premium multipliers for when you’ve saved up enough credits.
- Events & Rare Items: Keep an eye on community events—limited-time quests often drop unique stat-boosting gear or one-off XP bonuses.
Every level unlocks new stat-allocation choices and occasionally grants skill tokens for passive abilities (like faster stamina regeneration or critical-hit chance).
Gang Warfare and Shared Glory
Raging Mortals isn’t a lone wolf’s game—gangs are everything here. When you and your crewmates clash with rival gang members:
- Individual EXP still applies.
- Gang EXP pools together, pushing your gang up the global leaderboard.
- Armoury Perks: Contribute weapons and armour to your gang’s armoury. Low-level members can borrow gear to stay competitive.
- Heal-Bill Cover: If you get knocked out, you can pay for hospital treatment yourself, or your gang can cover the bill—solidarity at its finest.
Levelled-up gangs unlock perks like reduced hospital fees, bigger armoury capacity and exclusive gang quests.
Healing, Supplies and Pro Tips
Survival is about preparation as much as prowess. After a beating, you can:
- Buy healing items at the pharmacy—stock up early, because prices rise as you climb the levels.
- Use your gang’s funds to cover treatment in the hospital.
Pro Tip: At low levels, bulk-buy basic med-kits and potions. Not only are they cheaper then, but you’ll breeze through the early stages without risking downtime.
